2026 Annual General Meeting in Ellwangen – New Ideas for Tourism and the Hospitality Industry

Yesterday, Michael and Birgitt attended the annual general meeting in Ellwangen. The event demonstrated once again that our industry faces major challenges—and, at the same time, enormous opportunities.

Following the opening remarks and welcoming speeches by Ellwangen’s Mayor Michael Dambacher, DEHOGA District Chairman Dr. Hans-Ulrich Kauderer, and Stefan Powolny from the Ellwangen State Garden Show, it quickly became clear just how significantly the tourism and hospitality industries are currently changing and evolving.

A particular highlight was the report by Michael, chair of the Tourism & Hospitality Section. In addition to current developments and industry figures, the focus was primarily on the topics that will significantly shape the future of the hospitality industry:

➡️ Quality and guest experience
➡️ Digitalization and efficient processes
➡️ Securing skilled workers and employee retention

These topics are also on our minds every day here at VILOTEL. We are convinced that a successful hospitality industry isn’t about reacting to change—but about actively shaping it.
That’s why we continuously invest in digital solutions, modern work processes, and the professional development of our teams. Our goal is to create an environment that inspires and ensures long-term success for both our guests and our employees.
The reports from the fields of gastronomy, vocational training, and the women entrepreneurs’ network have also impressively demonstrated just how much innovative potential our industry holds. Recruiting young talent, training and continuing education, employee retention, and high quality standards remain crucial factors for success. Following this, the Ellwangen Garden Show offered an exciting insight into the importance of regional offerings for domestic tourism and local economic growth. It serves as a prime example of how attractive destinations can bring people together and strengthen entire regions.

During the closing discussion at the rooftop bar, it became clear once again that the best ideas do not arise in isolation, but through dialogue. Networking, sharing knowledge and developing new perspectives together – that is precisely what makes our industry so strong.
Many thanks to all the organisers, speakers and participants for the inspiring discussion and the valuable insights into the future of tourism and the hospitality industry.
