… One who's always laughing.
Some go into partial retirement at 50, but I made a fresh start and opened a hotel after 20 years of self-employment in the event industry.
How Did this Come about?
The city of Oberkochen approached Michael to discuss the future of the existing hotel at the town hall.
After a feasibility study, it quickly became clear that the hotel should best be demolished and a new, larger hotel should take its place. The town hall/city council immediately approved this. And so, things took their course…
The Haag family was found as investors. From the very beginning, it was a harmonious, trusting, and honest collaboration, and the question of an operator was raised.
As you can imagine… we went from being the planners to the operators.
From Planners to Operators
Of course, we are not without prior experience. Michael is a seasoned professional and has already opened his third hotel. I trained as a chef, then worked in various hotels, from reception to management. Then came the children…
We have been operating VILOTEL for 4.5 years now, and I haven’t regretted a single day.
A strong team of currently 35 employees supports us daily, along with guests who are simply wonderful.
Many of them we see week after week; they already belong to the “family”.
Our brilliant cuisine is another highlight (I only wanted a hotel garni at first). Our living room, with Johannes, our head chef, not only earns us a lot of praise and recognition; we are considered an insider tip for gourmet cuisine. It’s something to be proud of.
One who Always Laughs.
Of course, there have been challenging times, but I am someone who always laughs…
I like to recharge my batteries with my family (we have 2 wonderful children, 25 and 27 years old) and friends. I get a lot of energy from excursions and hikes.
Our dog ensures I get daily exercise, and I avoid elevators.
Any questions? Just do it.
Yours, Birgitt (Manager and Passionate Hostess)
